Officials announced this week that students and instructors in New York City schools can no longer use a popular artificial intelligence-powered chatbot on Department of Education WiFi networks or devices.
“Access to ChatGPT is banned on New York City Public Schools’ networks and devices due to concerns about detrimental consequences on student learning, as well as issues about the safety and veracity of information,” Department of Education spokesman Jenna Lyle explained.
