Meta Platforms Inc., which owns Facebook, will change its stock ticker to META before the market opens on June 9. This is the last step in a rebranding process that began with a new name last year.
The ticker comes at a bad time for the stock, which is down more than 40% this year. This is because of a wider tech sell-off and worries that the social media giant’s growth is slowing. Since the company went public for the first time in 2012, it has been trading under the ticker FB.
