A receipt for a piece of “invisible art” that was auctioned off in Paris for about $1.2 million this week exceeded expectations.

“This piece is guaranteed and got an irrevocable bid,” Sotheby’s said in its catalog of the pay stub, which sold for $1,151,467.40, more than double the expected price of $551,000.

What do you think about paying millions for nothing?
