Vitalik Buterin says that the upcoming Ethereum Merge will move the network closer to being able to handle 100,000 transactions per second.
That’s a lot more than Visa (65,000), Mastercard (5,000), Amex (5,000), and every other way to pay with a credit card.
“At the end of this roadmap, Ethereum will be a system that can be used on a much larger scale. Ethereum will be able to handle 100,000 transactions per second by the end “said Buterin.
At the moment, Ethereum can only handle 13–17 transactions per second.
