Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite and Unreal Engine, has raised $2 billion in funding to “create the metaverse,” according to the company. Sony and KIRKBI each put in $1 billion.
“This investment will speed our work to construct the metaverse and create areas where players can have fun with friends, marketers can build innovative and immersive experiences, and creators can establish a community and prosper,” says Epic Games Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney.
