eBay said today that it will buy the NFT marketplace KnownOrigin, which is based in Manchester. The deal did not say how much it would cost. eBay says that as of June 22, the companies have signed and closed the deal.
Andy Gray, David Moore, and James Morgan came up with the idea for KnownOrigin in 2018. eBay is getting all three of its co-founders. Artists and collectors can use the platform to make, buy, and sell NFTs. eBay says it is buying the whole company, including the IP and the people who work there.
