
Even though it sounds crazy, the FBI probably reads crypto-related tweets. This is shown by the fact that a tweet from user Cobie led to the indictment of a former Coinbase employee by the US Attorney’s Office.
Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney, says that this is the first case of insider trading in cryptocurrency markets.
Ishan Wahi, a Coinbase employee who was charged, is said to have told his brother and a friend to buy tokens right before Coinbase announced that they would list them. Nikhil Wahi and Sameer Ramani are said to have bought at least 25 assets before at least 14 announcements that they would be listed on Coinbase.
